Lift off! 52 Cards Project #1
First week of the new year and I am inspired to work on a year long project. Each week I will express a theme that captures the spirit of that week for me on one 4x6 card (Bristol paper).
I’ll upload my cards by the end of the week here on the blog—and talk a little about the theme and the materials.
I thought about choosing a medium and/or color palette for the project, but I decided I will let the spirit move the materials, sort of speak. Maybe medium and color will change with the seasons.
In the moment, I can’t get enough of inky black and white. I really do love ink and high contrast so that’s what I’m using for now.
My theme this week is Lift off! Appropriate for the new year, of course, as I set out for 2022. But this lift off is not just into a new year. In a lot of ways, I’m heading out into new me territory. Or, the next leg of the life journey. I’ve talked a little here on the blog about my new clarity around art-making so my art practice is definitely going in new directions. I’ve also been pulling together loose ends of myself into a more clear-sighted understanding of who I am. This next week I’m headed to the Hoffman Institute for a weeklong retreat. I’m sure next week’s theme is going to be a big one.
But now? Lift off!
